Andrea Bogdan Artist Bio

ANDREA BOGDAN generously uses color and motion in her paintings to express the unique life spark inside every person, and the weird, wonderful and conflicted nature of the human condition. All of her works are improvised from beginning to end, painted primarily by “hand” (she prefers using acrylics and painting with the side of her palm), and no two pieces are alike. She derives inspiration from the vast array of people she’s met from all walks of life, having lived and worked in places such as Detroit, The Bronx, Manhattan, Dallas, Prague, Vienna, and Los Angeles.

Andrea’s collectors are from around the globe in Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Honduras, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Sweden, and across the United States. She is an advocate for L.A. art galleries.

Her work is influenced by artists such as: Marc Chagall, Ralph Steadman, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Michel Basquiat, Theodor Seuss Geisel, and most of all Jesse Reno.

Andrea describes her process as "freestyle", meaning that every painting is done as it goes without a preconceived plan for the final outcome.

You can visit Andrea in her working studio in downtown Los Angeles’ historic Gallery Row. Her studio is on the mezzanine level of The Last Bookstore on the corner of 5th and Spring Street.
